Embodiment

A monument to the existences of the non-existences

Life and death are simultaneously two poles, separate and together, because, in truth, there is a very thin and unstable boundary between the two.

This work is located on the edge of this border; where the voice of a silent generation is heard; a generation that never had the opportunity to open its eyes and breathe; nor did it open its eyes to see peace and war,Not a single breath escaped to laugh or sigh. A generation that was stuck between being and not being. A generation of being and not being.

This work is a free interpretation of the tombstone of a woman in Isfahan who died during childbirth; she neither held her child to her breast, nor her child held her mother’s breast. This work is a memorial to a woman who did not see her child walk, a memorial to a child who did not travel from the corner of the womb to the expanse of the earth, a memorial to unfinished births, a memorial to being and not being.
