Ulrika Sparre Ulrika Sparre (b. 1974) lives and works in Stockholm, Sweden. She applies her artistic practice to multiple media creating installations, sculpture, photography, film, performance and sound art. Sparre has exhibited at various art galleries, museums and institute such as Färgfabriken, Reykjavik Art Museum. Additionally, she has performed a number of projects in public spaces. She studied at Konstfack (University College of Arts, Craft and Design) in Stockholm and at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam. In her artistic practice she investigates belief in contemporary society, not out of a religious perspective but out of the idea that you create your life and have to relate to your own existential thoughts and questions. This only by the influence of our culture. She explores subjects like individuality and the impact of the development towards individualism and consumerism in contemporary society. In her works she creates spaces through texts, lights and visuals that offer us all an opportunity to raise our sight and gaze outwards or forwards.
